What Are Riparian Areas, and Why Should We Care?
The Tanana Valley Watershed Association will show river processes eroding
streamside property, costs associated with fighting erosion, and the
value of riparian (streamside) areas for fish and wildlife habitat.
This is the first in a series of meetings as TVWA formulates a riparian
plan for the Borough's consideration. Featured Speakers: Bob Henszey, TVWA Riparian Management Coordinator; and Joni Sharfenberg, Fairbanks Soil and Water Conservation District. 2009 Fairbanks Outdoor Show Seminars.

The 2008 Tanana River Flood: An Evening of Presentations
The Tanana Valley Watershed Association presents an evening of free presentations about the 2008 Tanana River flood. Come see photos of the flooding and learn about the conditions that caused the flood, the response of the Chena Lakes Flood control project and the flood’s impact on water resources. There will be time for questions and answers after the presentations. Featured Speakers Include: Ed Plumb from the National Weather Service, Tim Feavel from the Chena Lakes Flood Control Project, and La'Ona Dewilde from UAF.
