Since 2004, TVWA has assisted with Fairbanks’ annual Stream Cleanup Day.
This event centers around volunteers spending time floating via canoe or walking in parkways along the Chena River and picking up litter.
These activities are followed by a volunteer appreciation barbecue and picnic.
Volunteers come from supporting organizations including: Fairbanks Host Lions Club, Fairbanks Paddlers Club, US Army Fort Wainwright BOSS soldiers and US Air Force service members, and Girl and Boy Scouts, and the general public.
This year’s 2025 Stream Cleanup Day was held on June 14th and based out of the Chena River State Recreation Site pavilions in Fairbanks located at Geraghty and Univeristy Avenue.
